Ørsted is one of the leading energy groups in Northern Europe. The company is headquartered in Denmark. The business is based on procuring, producing, distributing and trading in energy and related products in Northern Europe. The company has approximately 6,000 employees and generates DKK 55 billion (EUR 7.3 billion) in revenue in 2010. Ørsted’s fibre optic network was the largest of its kind in Denmark passing approx. 350,000 homes passed and capable of delivering more than 1 Gbps of up- and downstream capacity allowing for unique customer driven broadband solutions.
The network will comprise the majority of TDC’s fibre optic network and be a vital part in TDC’s continued development of their fibre optic network.
The acquirer; TDC will pay DKK 325 million in cash on completion of the contract. DONG Energy is also to receive a percentage of the TDC group’s future fibre optics-related revenue. The parties have capitalised these revenue flows at DKK 100 million when they concluded the contract. 146 staff members will be transferred to the buyer when the completion is effectuated. Ørsted will retain ownership of the fibre optics used by the power network (approx. 40% of all sections).
