Ørsted is one of the leading energy groups in Northern Europe. The company is headquartered in Denmark. The business is based on procuring, producing, distributing and trading in energy and related products in Northern Europe. The company has approximately 6,000 employees and generates DKK 55 billion (EUR 7.3 billion) in revenue in 2010. Anholt Offshore Wind Farm will be located in the Kattegat, between Djursland and Anholt island. With a nameplate capacity of 400 megawatts (MW), when built, it will be the largest offshore wind farm in Denmark. When fully operational, the wind farm will provide electricity for 400,000 Danish households.
The acquirer is a consortium of Danish pensions funds.
The divestment marked a milestone for Ørsted in terms of direct investments by pension funds into the company’s assets and could open up new investment avenues for the offshore wind sector.
