Associate Programme

Our Associate Programme is primarily designed for graduates exiting our Analyst programme and from time to time it is supplemented by hiring of additional strong candidates with either some or limited corporate finance experience, but a strong desire to make a career in investment banking.

The programme is designed to ensure that new Associates develop the necessary toolbox and professional skills to become high-performing investment bankers.

Assignments, training and education

As an Associate, you are an integral part of our advisory team and get to work with some of the most experienced investment bankers in Denmark. You also work closely with many high profile corporate and private equity clients, counterparts and lawyers, consultants, accountants and other specialists.

You get to work on a variety of different assignments, including formulating acquisition, divestment and exit strategies, executing divestments, acquisitions and IPOs, and other strategic advisory services for our clients.

Typical daily work assignments include preparing and attending client meetings, interacting with counterparts and other advisors, and preparing pitches, sales material, presentations, valuations, bids and other material relating to new and ongoing mandates.

To accelerate your learning and to help you become a complete investment banker, you will be involved in our transactions from day one and from end to end. In addition to day-to-day on-the-job coaching with senior team members, you will also participate in training courses run by internal experts or external consultants.

Examples of training include:

  • The fundamentals of investment banking and working as a strategic advisor
  • The fundamentals of M&A processes
  • Databases such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Dealogic, Mergermarket, etc.
  • Valuation using a DCF and/or LBO modelling
  • Valuation using peer group and comparable transaction multiples
  • Excel optimisation and modelling
  • Ad hoc seminars on team building, presentation skills and theoretical financial, accountancy and legal subjects

A senior member of our advisory team will be assigned as your mentor and will be responsible for your development and successful integration into our team.

 

Typical background

We hire talented graduates with outstanding academic skills and with experience from relevant part-time positions during their studies.

Our Associates typically rank within the top 5-10% among their peers, and often have backgrounds in one of the following MSc courses (non-exhaustive list):

  • MSc in Finance and Accounting (CBS)
  • MSc in Applied Economics & Finance (CBS)
  • MSc in Finance & Strategic Management (CBS)
  • MSc in Economics (UC)
  • MSc in Economics & Management (AAU)
  • MSc in Finance (ASB)
  • MSc in Finance & International Business (ASB)

However, we are always open to applicants with strong academic skills with alternative backgrounds and master’s degrees.

Given the international aspects of our work, preference will always be given to candidates who are good team players with excellent written and spoken language skills. Strong written and oral Danish and English skills are required.
