FIH Partners advised Polaris on the divestment of Louis Poulsen

FIH Partners advised Polaris, a leading Danish private equity fund, on the divestment of Louis Poulsen, the Denmark-based manufacturer of luxury lighting fixtures, to Investindustrial, a European private equity fund.

Founded in 1874, Louis Poulsen is a Danish lighting manufacturer and a global luxury brand born out of the Scandinavian design tradition. The product portfolio builds on iconic designs made in collaboration with world-renowned designers such as Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen and Verner Panton as well as acclaimed contemporary designers and architects. With an offering addressing both the residential and the professional market, the company has been able to accelerate growth while improving profitability markedly in Polaris’ ownership period.
In 2017, Louis Poulsen employed 450 employees, had revenues of DKK c.800m and EBITDA of DKK c.150m.

Investindustrial acquired Louis Poulsen with the aim to further develop the company and brand while continuing the international growth. Investindustrial has experience within the design sector and its design-led investments currently count Flos and B&B Italia and OKA.
The value of the transaction is not disclosed.
